Being that it’s the Electronic Entertainment Expo time or E3, I’ve decided to give my impressions and thoughts with games that are being showcased at E3. It’s just me going over some of the games that caught my attention and maybe some news articles and a noteworthy console or two. This first article is going to be about Microsoft’s E3 that took place on June 9th, 2019. Covering some games that are exclusive to Xbox. At least the ones that I’m aware of. Xbox Game Studios: Hold my beer…
I have to admit, that was really cool looking opening cinematic It does run a bit too long.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
I mentioned last year about this game I was really looking forward to this game and I still am. We got another beautiful preview, fantastic music, and release date. I am disappointed and relieved that the new release date is February 11th, 2020 instead of coming out his year. But it’s okay, I like to wait for a sale and still say that this game is worth waiting for. I did blog about Ori and the Blind Forest so if you’d like, check out my thoughts here.
Bleeding Edge
I’m not sure what to think of this one. It looks like Battleborn meets Overwatch meets Borderlands with more melee combat style of fighting. It seems like an alright game, but I think that I’m going to pass on this one for now. It’s something I would pick up if I had a Gamepass or if this game was offered with the games with gold program.
Battletoads
Well, I’m nearly sold on this. The beginning of the trailer is profoundly playing on my nostalgia with the pause music beat and Battletoads theme updating with more of a rocking sound. The cartoon style reminds me of something of a Newgrounds game like Castle Crashers or Alien Hominid. It looks to be 2D beat um up fun, mixed with some new elements. I’m assuming that this game is going to be as tricky or NES Hard as the original Battletoads and other games before it.

Microsoft Flight Simulator
It’s really cool that this series is coming back and to a gaming console. I did play this game on the PC when I was younger. I wasn’t very good at it, I still had fun flying around. The visuals look incredible, and the atmosphere flying around is really breathtaking. Some things do come to my mind when I see this. Will there actually be a flight joystick or flight panel for the game. I can, but find it hard for the controller be suitable for this since it technically has only 12 or so buttons to work with (I’m counting the analog sticks with this). There is a 4K resolution to the game, but would you be able to add screen for a more panoramic view as well?
Gears 5
While it should be called Gears of War 5. It was shortened probably for time say purposes or how people like to call just reduce names and such I can assume. The Kait, Broken trailer was intriguing. I did like the effect, and the main story will continue with her story; it seems, from Gears of War 4. Despite no gameplay being shown yet and a release date of September 10th, I could be interested in this game, but I’m starting to feel fatigued in terms of this series. “Escape” looks to be a fun three player co-op mechanic as you and two other teammates escape from a Locust Hive. I hope more comes out about this game shortly.

Phantasy Star Online 2
A game I haven’t heard from since it was released on the Sega Dreamcast. It’s interesting that Xbox has exclusivity, and that it’s free with micro-transactions of course. The trailer does look great, and it appears to be vastly updated since its Dreamcast incarnation.
Forza Horizon 4
I haven’t played a single Forza game. I would admit that this preview is fun. Mostly because it adds Legos to the racing mix and has the song, “Everything is Awesome” from the Lego Movie. I usually don’t have time for racing games, but this one looks to be awesome.
Xbox Ultimate Game Pass and New Xbox Elite Controller Series 2
I don’t really have much to say about these items. I never cared for an over $100 controller, nor did I ever buy the first Xbox Elite controller. The Ultimate Gamepass is great now that you can now combine Xbox Live and Game Pass. For me, right now, I just don’t have the time to sit and enjoy the many games that it offers.
Project Scarlett
The new Xbox systems project name. This was bound to happen since we are almost 6 years out from when Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were released, and PlayStation announced the PlayStation 5 specs. Right now, I’m taking it for what it is, an announcement. It’s just interesting to me that PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett are going to be up to 8K comparable and I don’t even have a 4K TV or monitor yet. But the announcement of Scarlett leads into another announcement of its launch game:
Halo Infinite
It actually should be called Halo 6 to me, this trailer looked nice, but that all this was. Another trailer for a game coming next year with no gameplay or other details then it starts where Halo 5 left off and Master Chief starting a fight. As lovely as it looks, I wish I had some more to go in with this game.
